Steel Magnolias
The Delaware Theatre Company is producing “Steel Magnolias” which will run from December 2nd through December 20th, 2026. The Arden Artisans Collective will have a juried art exhibit at the DTC in conjunction with their production. The title of the exhibit is Resilient Threads: The Strength Between Us. There is neither an entry fee to submit work for consideration nor a commission required if a work sells.
All members of the AAC are invited to submit up to three two-dimensional works for the exhibit. This will be a juried exhibit and, if you have ever visited the exhibition space, you know it is limited so it is likely that not all submitted pieces will be accepted. Please consider the theme for the exhibit in choosing or creating your work. You may, of course, interpret the theme as broadly or narrowly as you wish!
The exhibit will be on display throughout the run of the play, including a First Friday Art Loop event on Friday, December 4th, from 5:30 - 7:30, which will also be the evening of our opening reception. The exhibit will also be open to all theater attendees throughout the run of the play in the Lobby Gallery.
Submissions open on Thursday, October 1st and continue until Saturday, October 31st. Notification of acceptance will be sent by email on or before Monday, November 16th. Accepted pieces must be ready to hang on the wall with appropriate framing (or finishing if unframed) and wiring. The DTC has a hanging system in their gallery which we must use; we cannot put nails into their walls.
Delivery of artwork will be on Saturday, November 28th between 10:30 a.m. and noon. All artwork must remain in the exhibition until the show closing on December 20th. Pickup of artwork will be on Monday, December 21st between 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sold artwork will be marked as “sold” and the buyer will be provided with your name and contact information so that they may arrange a pickup of their purchased artwork either on December 20th at DTC or other arrangements you may make with the buyer.
