Sognare 48” x 36” Acrylic

A native of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, I earned my BFA from the University of Delaware and began my professional life as a fabric designer at a jacquard mill in Pennsylvania. The design studio where I worked provided a rich training ground, giving me insight into color, texture, and pattern that informs the art I do today. Concurrent to this job, I blogged as MortalMom, wrote essays and articles for local magazines, and authored a novel: Summers At Blue Lake.

After leaving the textile industry, I began painting portraits and landscapes, starting with dark canvases because I like bringing my subjects "into the light."

Since moving to the edge of Sherwood Forest in Arden in 2013, my art and writing have taken on the rhythms of my surroundings. I paint forest and nature scenes in various degrees of abstraction. My writing, too, is rooted in this place. I write about the inspirational people and happenings of Wilmington for blogs such as INWilmington and magazines like Out & About.

I have exhibited my art in galleries throughout Pennsylvania and Delaware. My original paintings and prints have found their way into collections all over the United States
